How to Download YouTube Videos Onto Your Phone

YouTube offers millions of videos for free to its users. Downloading a video on your phone is just like downloading it on your computer. However, before you start, make sure your cell phone is Web enabled. If you are unsure, check your phone's specifications and connect it either to Wi-Fi or Edge (provided by your network carrier). Also, note that YouTube offers these videos for free but your network carrier might charge you for downloading data. To find out how much you will be charged, refer to your cell phone data plan.

Instructions

    1

Open your computer's Web browser and navigate to YouTube (see the link in the Resource section below).

    2

Navigate through the available videos on YouTube's home page or search for a specific video by entering keywords in the search field. If you have a YouTube account you can log in and search for your favorite videos, post comments and upload videos.

    3

Click on any video to open it. When the video opens, go to its address bar, right-click and select "Copy."

    4

Visit any website that allows you to download and convert a YouTube video by entering its URL. You can find links to some of these sites in Resources below. Right-click on the URL field within the site and click "Paste." Select "3GP" as the output format, then click on "Download" and the video will start downloading on your computer.

    5

Transfer the video to your phone once it downloads. If you want to transfer it using a USB cable, go to Step 7. To transfer it through Bluetooth, enable Bluetooth on your phone by going to "Menu > Settings > Connectivity/Connection > Bluetooth > Enable/Power On." Now go to the downloaded video on your computer, right-click on it and select "Send to > Bluetooth Device." Your computer will search for devices in range and will include your cell phone's name in the list. You have to pair both the devices to connect them, so double-click the phone's icon and enter a passkey (any 4 digits). Enter the same passkey on the phone and the video will start transferring to your phone.

    6

Connect one end of the phone's USB cable to the phone and the other end to the computer. Select the downloaded video and press "Ctrl + C." Go to "Start > My Computer" and double-click to open the phone's drive. If there is a specific folder for videos here, open it; otherwise, just right-click in the window and select "Paste." Disconnect the USB connection and the video will be transferred to your cell phone.
