How to Add Tags to StumbleUpon

StumbleUpon is designed to help you discover some of the best content on the Web. With the built-in StumbleUpon toolbar providing direct access, it's easy to keep clicking that "Stumble" button long into the wee hours of the night. Once you've accumulated several thousand favorites, which takes a surprisingly short amount of time, you might find it difficult find a particular page you liked. Adding tags to your StumbleUpon favorites is the most practical way to organize them so that you can find them again. You can add tags directly through the toolbar or through your StumbleUpon profile.

Instructions

Toolbar

    1

Open the Web browser on which you use the StumbleUpon toolbar.

    2

Click the "Tools" link in your StumbleUpon toolbar, and then select "Toolbar Options" from the drop-down menu.

    3

Click the "Searching & Tagging" tab in the Toolbar Options window. Under the Tagging & Search-By-Stumble heading, check the boxes next to "Show tag button" and "Show search / tag box", and then click the "OK" button.

    4

Click the "Stumble" button to discover a new page. When you find a page you like, give it a "thumbs-up."

    5

Enter your tags into the "Search or tag here" field in your toolbar, and then click the "tag" button -- shaped like a small blue gift tag -- next to the field. You can separate multiple tags with a comma. Do not hit the "Enter" key after entering your tags; this starts a custom search.

StumbleUpon Profile

    6

Navigate to StumbleUpon.com and log in to your account. StumbleUpon automatically directs you to your favorites page when you log in.

    7

Hold your mouse over the favorite page that you want to tag. Click the "Edit" link when it appears.

    8

Enter your keywords -- separated by a comma -- into the tag field, and then click the "Save" button.
