How to Use Shorthand for Windows

Shorthand for Windows is a time-saving, text-storage and transfer application. This award-winning software enables you to replace commonly used words, keystrokes and even phrases with much shorter keystrokes. In effect, it greatly reduces the number of keystrokes that you would otherwise use to type frequently used words. Shorthand can save several hours of typing for "hunt and peck" typists and touch typists alike.

Instructions

    1

Open your Shorthand application. Typically, Shorthand will run in the background until you actually need it.

    2

Press F10 to bring up the main window. This is where you can access all of the features of Shorthand.

    3

In the Keyword panel, select a keyword. In the "Text to Type" box, enter the text that you want Shorthand to replace your keyword with when you type it in. Click on the "Hide" button.

    4

Open the windows application, such as Word, that you would like to use. Begin to type information into your windows application as usual.

    5

Enter your pre-determined keyword where necessary, followed by a punctuation mark. Rather than typing in a six-word phrase, for example, type in your keyword. Shorthand automatically replaces the keyword with the desired text as you type.
