How to Get a Job Installing Satellites for DirectTV

Getting a job as a satellite installation tech with DirecTV pays well and offers job security. The competition for these kinds of jobs, however, is high. Satellite techs install satellite dishes onto DirecTV customer's roofs using a ladder. You must be comfortable with heights and electronics to be a good satellite tech. DirecTV will train you in its company methods, but many techs come from backgrounds where they previously worked in electronics or telecommunications.

    Acquire experience in the field of electronics, cable, telecommunications or CATV. Have the ability to lift up to 70 lbs. and climb ladders. Earn your high school diploma or G.E.D. and apply to the Satellite Installation Tech position after you turn 21 years old.

    Go to the DirecTV website and click on the "Careers" tab at the bottom of the web page. Search for a job using keywords and location.

    Click on the job you want and hit the "Apply Online" tab at the top. Click the "New User" button at the bottom of the page. Create a username, password and enter your email address. Create two security questions with answers and click "OK."

    Upload a resume in a .doc format and click "Save and Continue."

    Fill in the rest of the application's information. You will need your name, address, former employment, skills, education and certifications. When you are done filling in the necessary information, it will be sent to the human resources department. They will call you if they want to interview you.
