SmugMug is digital photography sharing site. Subscribers to this site have three subscription levels to choose from: basic, power and pro levels. With this site, you have a variety of tricks and customizations you can use to make your SmugMug experience useful and customized. These tricks include image customization, photo protection, gallery creation and color adjustment.
Customize Image Sizes
SmugMug provides photographers with nine photo sizes: 100, 150, 400, 600, 800, 1024, 1280, 1600 pixels and huge. If your photographs don't fit any of those categories, you can set customize sizes by altering the photo's URL, replacing abbreviations that appear before and after the name. For example, if the URL consists of /L/image-L.jpg replace it with the desired size such as /200x200/image-200x200.jpg. You can retrieve the image's link from the share button located on your gallery page. SmugMug automatically applies the correct aspect ratio for your images by applying the ratio to the longest dimension. This prevents picture distortion.
Protect Photos from Being Stolen
Several tricks can be used to prevent image theft on SmugMug. SmugMug users who use the "Power" and "Professional" plans have the option of disabling the printing and right-clicking of images. To prevent Internet Explorer from allowing users to mouse over images and receive images, place the following meta tag in the "Head Tag" box located in the "Advanced Site-wide Customization" under the Customize menu: and . You can also add a custom right-click warning to images by entering "rightClickWarning = 'Enter your message here.'" Under "Gallery Settings", subscribers are also given the option to block easy sharing and external links. This action prevents people from sharing your photos with other people or through blog and forum posts.
Automatically Create Galleries
By clicking the "Make Gallery" icon located on empty galleries, you can tell SmugMug how you want your galleries automatically sorted. Under "Smart Gallery Settings," SmugMug provides the option to add rules. Rules allow you to include or exclude photos based on keywords, dates, popularity, geography and other galleries. SmugMug allows up to five rules at a time. You're given the option to preview rules before saving them.
Adjust Colors
Under the "Tools" menu, SmugMug allows color effects with the "Apply Color Effect" options. This tool allows user to apply coloring effects such auto, tanning salon, sepia, negative, black and white to digital pictures. You'll have the option to preview each effect before applying it to the final picture.
