How to Search for Images

The internet is full of images. Many are copyright free and are available for any personal use you wish. Whether you are putting together a school or college project, a business presentation or just fulfilling an interest, there are images that will suit your need. Finding the right image can be challenging if you do not know where to start. There are many general and specific search engines to choose from. All will display a different set of images per search. Using more than one search engine can help you gather a better set of images.

Instructions

    1

Log onto one of the main generic search engines. A few are: Google, Bing, Yahoo and Lycos. Above the search bar there will be an image option -- click this.

    2

Enter your keywords into the search bar. Be as specific as you can. This will allow you to sort through the vast number of available images. Click "Search" or press "Enter" to begin.

    3

Select the image you want by clicking on it. This will load the website it is displayed on. You can alter the image search options by clicking on the "Options" button. This is usually displayed beneath the search bar. Here you can add an adult filter and set how many images per page you wish to display.

    4

Log onto dedicated image websites such as Flickr, Cyclops and Pixsy. These sites allow you to select categories, image size and other options to limit your search. You can also enter keywords.
