Instructions

Google Sites

    1

Go to Google Sites on your computer (see Resources). Sign into your Google account. If you do not have an account, select "Sign Up for Sites." Click on "Create Site." You are taken to a page for customizing your site. Choose a template to use based upon your preferences and the type of site you are building. Type in a name for your site. If you name the site "pepper," it will appear as http://sites.google.com/site/pepper. Since the site is free, sites.google.com/site will always appear in the address.

    2

Select a theme that will customize the template you chose. Then choose more options. Type in a site description. The site description is important because it will help others locate your page via Google's search engine. After completing the description, specify under the Share With section if you want the site to be public or to restrict sharing. Choose "Everyone In the World" for a totally public site. If you want restricted sharing, select "Only People I Specify."

    3

Go to the section on mature content. Check the box if the site will contain mature content, only meant for adults. Type in the code displayed at the bottom of the page and click "Create Site." Your basic site design is complete.

Weebly

    4

Go to Weebly.com. Enter your username, password and email. After reading the terms of service, check the box that says you agree to the terms stated. Select "Sign Up." Type in a title and click "Continue." Type in the title on the next page, which will make the title a subdomain of Weebly.com. If you type in "dog," the site will appear as dog.weebly.com. On the following page, drag and drop any page elements you want on your site.

    5

Select "Design" at the top of the screen. Choose a template. Next, select "Pages" at the top of the screen. You already have a home page, so click "New Page" and type in the name in the "Page Name" box. Then click "Save."

    6

Click "Publish" when you are ready for your site to appear online. You can always go back and edit the template and features of your site at any time.

Wix.com

    7

Go to Wix.com. Select "Start Now" to begin building your site. Choose a template and then click "Edit." Drag and drop any features you want to incorporate in your site.

    8

Select "Page Parts" to add and edit pages. Edit the page and select "Save." Include photos and widgets the same way. Click "Save" after any additions you make. Select "Settings" from the "File" menu. At the top of the window that opens you will see a document that allows you to name your site, customize your URL and add keywords. A Wix.com URL appears as Wix.com/username. After you make your desired changes, click "Apply."

    9

Click "Publish" when you are done. Your website is live at this point. You can always return to edit any information.
