Finding a furnished place to live that is in a preferable location and affordable can be difficult. It is possible to find cheap rooms to rent by using methods such as splitting the rent with a roommate or doing an exhaustive search online to find the best deal.

Go to the Apartments.com website and enter in the city, state, and zip code of the area where you would like to live. Click the search button to bring up the list of results. Enter a figure under the quick search to list the lowest-priced rents.
2Go to the craigslist website and pick your city to search. Click the "Rooms/Shared" link to bring up all of the listings for that city. Enter in keywords such as street names and minimum rent to search, as well.
3Go to the Roommate Locator website. Click the link "Click Here if You Need a Room to Rent." Enter in you e-mail address if you would like to list yourself as a roommate or enter in your city, state, and country information to search for available rooms.
4Visit the area where you would like to live. Inquire about available rooms to rent if you see any ads posted on buildings. If the rent is too expensive, ask the property manager for suggestions about where you might find cheaper places to rent.
