How to Insert a Twitter Feed Into a Website

Twitter makes it easy to insert feeds into your website or Facebook page with its customizable widgets. You can use widgets to post a live feed of your Twitter updates to your website, show the tweets of your friends, or your favorite tweets. If you are involved with an event that is being discussed on Twitter you can also keep your website visitors current on the lasted updates by posting a feed based on any keyword search.

    Open a browser and log into Twitter with your account name and password.

    Click the "Resources" link on the bottom right of your Twitter home page. At the time of publication this is beside the Twitter copyright notice.

    Click the "See all Widgets" link. Twitter offers Widgets for Facebook or your website. Click "My Website."

    Select "Profile Widget" to display a feed of your own posts, or posts from another Twitter account. Select "Search Widget" to display a feed of all Twitter posts based on your choice of keywords. Select "Faves Widget" for a feed of posts you mark as favorites on Twitter. Select "List Widget" to display a feed of any of your Twitter lists.

    Select a "Username" in the "Settings" page, or a search term if you are using a Search Widget. You can also type a title and caption for some widgets.

    Click "Preferences." Here you can select whether you want your Twitter feed to poll for new results. You can also select how many tweets you want included in the feed, and whether or not you want avatars, timestamps and hashtags included.

    Click "Appearance." Here you can select the colors for your widget. You can type or paste a hex color code into the text field, or click on the color beside the code to display a color palette you can choose from.

    Click "Dimensions." Type in the width and height you want for your widget. You can also select "auto width." This will make the width of your widget adjustable to the space available.

    Click the "Test settings" button when you have finished customizing your widget.

    Click the "Finish & Grab Code" button when you are finished.

    Put your cursor on the code. This will automatically highlight all of the code. Press "Ctrl-C" on your keyboard to copy it to your clipboard.

    Log into your website using your administrative account information. Select the page where you want your Twitter feed to appear. Then paste the code into place by pressing "Ctrl-V" on your keyboard.
